TRAGIC NEWS: SHEEP SLEDDING DISASTER IN NEPAL
An estimated 150 sheep were taken to an animal shelter when their wool was pulled off by an avalanche. The sheep were pulled from a snowy field and carried to the rescue center. The rescuers found about 50 sheep, which were alive but badly injured in the snowy collapse. Officials said at least one of the dead was a goat.
In an alert, the Neparuptak Mountain Rescue Team said:
"We have rescued about 150 sheep (including 12 goats) of which about 50 were alive. All those alive are under the care of the animal agency and we will do all we can to return them."
"People may feel sad for the loss of a sheep, but in case of an avalanche we need to rescue those who are still alive," said one of the rescue workers.
"People will never know the pain we have gone through for this sheep. We will always remember them," added the rescuer.
